After a recent book club meeting where YWCA staff and friends discussed homelessness in the community, 1902 Society member, Tyler Harding, wanted to volunteer with other YWCA programs. She decided to volunteer her services as a dietitian to the women who are currently part of YWCA’s transitional housing program. “I so enjoyed meeting and working with the women at the YWCA during the nutrition workshop,” she said. The class had a larger turnout than expected, and everyone was very engaged. Tyler spoke about how to read nutrition labels and tips on how to eat healthy on a budget. Tyler greatly enjoyed the experience: “I could tell the women were genuinely interested in learning more about nutrition and ways to improve their health. “ She said she left feeling very energized and is looking forward to leading another workshop on meal planning in the future.
