Why Hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy can provide relief for individuals experiencing these symptoms:
  • Pain
  • Stiffness
  • Bruising
  • Swelling
  • Muscle pain
  • Menstrual pain
  • And many others

Advantages of Hydrotherapy

  • Reduction of gravitational load (body weight) on bones, muscles, and joints
  • Greater muscle relaxation with reduction of muscle contractures
  • Less joint stiffness
  • Increased range of motion
  • Better health and longevity

This service is open to everyone and doesn’t require any swimming skills.

Swim Lesson & Hydrotherapy Policies:

    • Arrival Time: Participants must be on the pool deck and ready five minutes before the scheduled start time. Participants should use the restroom before the session begins and wait on the bleachers until instructed by a YWCA team member.
    • Swimming Attire and Protection:  For those with long hair, we recommend wearing hair tied back or covered by a swim cap during lessons. Participants should bring a dry towel for use after being in the water. All clothing must be suitable for swimwear, such as Lycra, Spandex or nylon. T-shirts are not permitted.  Children who are not potty-trained are required to wear swim diapers and rubber pants.  Floatation devices, including child armbands, are not permitted.
    • YWCA Disciplinary Action: Any disciplinary problems during the program should be addressed by the YWCA Staff. Positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior could include removing the child from the program or addressing the problem with the parent and/or director of fitness.
    • Scheduling Lessons: All private lessons and hydrotherapy sessions are scheduled using the online portal.
    • Reschedule Existing Session: 24-hour notice is required for rescheduling using the online portal. Payment will not be refunded or credited for sessions with less than 24-hour notice.
    • Inclement Weather Policy: Aquatics programs are conducted regardless of weather, except in cases of pool closure due to thunderstorms or other extreme weather. In the event of a thunderstorm, sessions will be rescheduled.
    • Absence Policy: Sessions are not made up and refunds are not issued when a participant misses a session; however, if the YWCA reschedules a session, we will make it up at a time to be announced.
    • Medical Concerns: If a participant has a medical condition, such as, but not limited to, allergies, seizures, or epilepsy, a medical clearance form from your physician is required and must be submitted to the director of fitness before the first day of class. In an emergency, knowledge of medical conditions will aid our staff and emergency personnel in providing care.
    • Pool Deck Policy: During a YWCA swim program, all parents and/or family members not participating in the program must proceed to the observation bleachers. Communication from the sidelines is not permitted as it may impact the success of the program. Flip flops, rubber-soled shoes, and bare feet are acceptable on the pool deck only.  Water and sports drinks are permitted. No glass bottles, food, candy, or gum.
    • Bleacher Policy: Food and drinks are welcome.  All members and guests are required to clean up personal belongings including trash.
