Penelope A. Wilson, MBA, CFRE
CHIEF PHILANTHROPY OFFICER
As Chief Philanthropy Officer, Penelope sets fund development strategy and oversees a diversified and growing set of funding streams including individual and corporate donors, foundation and government grants, and planned and estate giving.
Penelope earned her B.S. in Business Administration from the College of Charleston and her EMBA from the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte. She has the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential, is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and has completed Leadership Gift School of the Institute for Philanthropic Leadership.
Penelope’s nonprofit experience encompasses over 20 years in the Charlotte community. She founded the Komen Charlotte Race for the Cure®, was Komen Charlotte’s first Executive Director and directed development at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, Hospice & Palliative Charlotte Region, Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center and Penelope Wilson Consulting.
She lives in Southeast Charlotte with her wife, Teri Layzell, and Great Dane, Apollo and enjoys walking, swimming, gardening and spending time with friends.
